Tuesday 9th July

I know there is a bit of a gap from last post to now. Been so busy and haven't got around to updating page. Will tryand do so tomorow when we arrive in Tuscany for a week.

FromSlzburg we went via Innsbrick to Venice. Three nights in Venice. Left this morning to Cessenatico, a small beach town in Italy.
Venice is unique, and Cesenatico is a surprise.

More news and photos hopefully tomorrow

2 July- Prague

So much has happened since our last update a few days ago.

Our second day in Prague (July 2nd) was a full day of Site seeing. Gen was tour guide for the day- so with print out of all the highlights, we set out Jewish quarter, synagogues, cemetry, etc. then the main square, Clock Tower and Astronomical Clock, coffee!, then walking around all the other sights.

After lunch, the Newtown Town Hall tower for another climb for phil, Gen, Greg, whilst the Rest stayed and waited.

A brewery stop for afternoon tea - or more commonly referred to as "Beer O'clock"!

As we headed back to our luxury appartment, we stopped at the church nextdoor- St Nicholas. This is actually one of the best baroque decorated churches in Europe.

Night time saw us on the JazzBoat, for dinner and great jazz. We didn't actually cruise very far- a lap of maybe 1.5 klms, but certainly great viewing the city lights from the boat. dinner was good and the Jazz was great fun.

July3rd Prague to Salzburg

We set of pretty early(8:00) to make the most of the day and get out of thecity before peak hour traffic, and headed to Cesky Krumlov (recommended by Shane- thanks).

This is a beautiful town with massive castle on a rock outcrop above the town. Great wandering streets, river flowing through with lots of folk rafting andcanoing.

Then off to Salzburg, stopping at a little townto visit two of Erika's aunts who are in an aged care facility. They we very surprised to see Erika and Steve, but it was a lovely time.

Onto Salzburg.

After settling into hotel, dinner and then a brief stroll through parts of old Salzburg. We strolled through Mirabella gardens just before closing. Although it was getting dark, it was so pretty.

July 4th Salzburg

This morning was a little overcast and drizzly, so we decided to explore Salzburg city and castle in the morning. Fortunately, the rain held off and we were able to have a great wander through Salzburg. Funicular upto the top of Salzburg Castle and then exploring. A very interesting place. Salzburg as a whole s just so pretty. The view from the very top of the castle is outstanding, and fortunately, the clouds cleared, enablingt great view.

Afer the castle we set of to drive out to a lakes district of Salzburg- Fuschel, St Wolfgang and Mondsee. Really beautiful country. We stopped for a gondola ride to the top of the moutain in St Gilgen. A long ride up to the top of Zwolferhorn 1522 m high.

Stopped at Monsee for early dinner ( having skipped lunch), then back to the hotel for a final game of Canasta- boys vs girls. Very close game but the Girls finally tasted success, with a narrow win!

Friday 5th Salzburg

Well this morning we farewelled Phil and Gen as the returned the car to Vienna and homeward bound on the night flight. It was a great 4 weeks with them.

Still a bit drizzly in the morning, so Daylle and Erika went shopping, steve and Greg went walkng, meetingup for morning tea. Then lots more walking around Salzburg. It is mostly flat, so pretty easy walkng but occassionally lots of steps up to specific vantage points. By the end of the day there wasn't much of Salzburg old town not covered.

Nice restful afternoon, before early dinner.

Early train (6:50am) tomorrow to Venice.
