Wednesday 19 June - Stockholm
We have now completed all the ports that we visit on the cruise and are now heading back to Copenhagen, arriving Friday morning.
Our vist to Stockholm was fairly brief, so we elected to go on a ship arranged tour of Stockholm.
Apart from a general drive through Stockholm, we visited the Vasa Museum, the Ice Bar and the Old Town area which included the Royal Palace.
I think we all though the Vasa Museum was the highlight. This museum houses a 17th century sailing ship that sank in Stockholm harbour- grandkids challenge- answer ome questions on the Vasa.
The degree of preservation of the Vasa is outstanding. Cold brackish water resulted in over 95% of the ship being intact, complete with skeletons of the crew.
The Ice Bar was interesting- drinking vodka or soft drink in -5degrees, sitting on blocks of ice. The tumblers were made of ice.
The old town area was similar to some of the other od town areas, but very interesting- really old buildings in narrow winding streets, opening out to town squares where people gather- cafes, monuments etc.
Thursday 20 june
At sea day. Lazing around the ship, playing cards, watching shows etc. Getting ready to disembark in Copenhagen in the morning.
Friday 21 June
Disembarked in Copenhagen. Made our way to airport and cheked our baggage in, befre heading back into Copenhagen City.
Liesurely lunch in Nyhavn - street cafe by the canal.
Now at airport waiting for plane to Austria
